Holy Water

You can find lots of interesting items at De Looier antique showroom in Amsterdam. Including a variety of holy-water-finger-dipping-thingies (sorry, I don't know the proper name for them). But I suspect that having the water blessed is not part of the purchase price.

Thanks to all who've left comments over recent days. We've been a bit busy to return comments but appreciate your visits and remarks.

I'm pretty sure that "holy-water-finger-dipping-thingies" is the technical term for them.

What an odd range of things. I'm waiting for a LOL cat "I can haz holee watr" one!

I learn something every day. I had no idea things like this are sold. I like the photo you posted today. Nice work.

Abraham Lincoln in Brookville, Ohio where you can see a tiny fly on a honey bee's wing.

What a collection! But why are they here and not in their churches? Did they have to be "desanctified" before going secular?
Very funny, Kris. LOL But now both of you got me curious. It turns out they really do have a name: holy water stoups.

Hi by accident I came on your blog. I didn't know that we had a museum like that in A'dam! Where about is this museum De Looier? I live near Rotterdam, near Kinderdijk in the polder.

Where do you put that in your house? I never saw them before. Nice found!

All, thanks for the comments. We're not quite sure what they'd be used for in a home ... a small planter, or a place to put your keys and small change, perhaps? It was quite interesting to see, and kudos to the mrs. for seeing the shot.
