New Year Breakfast? Monthly Theme Day

Happy New Year from Wassenaar!

Thanks to all who visited and commented while we were on holiday.

Being the 1st of the month, today is Theme Day for the City Daily Photo Blogs. The question is, how to interpret the theme, "Best Photo of the Year?"

We chose to go with the photo that received the most comments. Of course it's from another Theme Day post, "Typical Breakfast," from last August. We showed the dutch tradition of eating sprinkles (hagelslag) on bread. You can see the original post here.

We'll continue the "best of" theme all week, but stop by tomorrow and we'll try to show how the New Year was celebrated here in Wassenaar.

Best wishes for 2008 ... Gelukkig Nieuw Jaar!
Due to the recovery time needed from our trip and last night's festivities, it will take us a few days to visit the other participating blogs ... nearly 120 of them:

I like these sprinkles! Here, we add sprinkles on top of glazed donuts, similar to your tradition, but ours is too sweet, and adds too much to our waistline. ;) Happy new year!

It's a rather unusual breakfast.

I look forward to visiting your blog more often this 2008. And you're welcome to mine, too! For some reason, my link was not included in the participating blogs for the 1st of January 2008 theme day. Sorry I wasn't able to visit your blog sooner. I was in transit the whole of yesterday. I am now back in Norwich after the most fantabulous time at home in Manila.

Happy New Year to you and everyone you hold dear!

I missed your photo on the first, but I recall seeing it when it was originally posted. It's a breakfast that my granddaughter would LOVE (and I may try it out on her!), but it's one that I think I would skip even tho it has received positive testimony to its delight. I prefer scones or cinnamon rolls, I think, but I'm sure to try it with my darlin' Olivia next time she sleeps over. May 2008 be a wonderful year for you, your family, and friends.
