Theme Day: Amsterdam Street Art

Those of you who visit our blog know that we don't always stick to Wassenaar, although on theme day we normally try to post something from the immediate area.

This theme day is a tough one -- Wassenaar is a pretty "clean" area and there isn't much graffiti or street art to speak of. So we're avoiding our neighbors in The Hague and Rotterdam by going to Amsterdam for this photo of a wild building, with extra graffiti for good measure.

And no, we didn't forget about leap year. We hope you don't mind the fact that we are publishing a day early, as we won't be able to post tomorrow but still wanted to participate.

As of 28 Feb, there are over 140(!!!) city daily photo blogs participating in this month's Theme Day:

R&R You're an early bird today! And I also thought you forgot the leap year! This dragon is a beautiful piece of art, and it looks like you've put the bikes under just to pretend it is very Dutch!!! I guess this is a house full of "krakers" or squatters. I did not manage to enlarge your pic to try and read the inscriptions. Have a nice week, I'm heading towards the Alps for a week and don't think I'll find internet where I'm staying!

I like the stuff on the top half as it is well executed - the stuff at the bottom, well ...

Wow! I wonder if the owner of the building authorised this mural/graffiti. If not, then I wonder how on earth they were able to get up to the upper floors to paint this?!

The colours are really pretty.

A very impressive mural. That must be an office building. The more I look at it, the more I like it.

Wow! Looks like a scene out of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets when he battles the basilisk. Very cool photo!

The bicycles make the dragon look like it is on wheels.

The top half of the building is really wonderful. The vandalism at street level almost ruins the effect on the building.
